The Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation “raises funds from private individuals and organizations to invest in conservation, restoration, research and education projects of the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority(LSRCA) to ensure a healthy Lake Simcoe Watershed today and tomorrow.”
The Foundation was formed nearly 40 years ago the by the LSRCA; the Authority was formed over 50 years ago. The LSRCA is an organization over 100 employees with an annual operating budget of $15.0M and is the environmental steward for municipalities within the watershed planning area. The LSRCA conducts science and research on the health of the lake, comments on development approvals, infrastructure approvals, agricultural and general environmental activities and practices, and monitors government legislation and policy development as it pertains to environmental planning and matters directly affecting the watershed. The LSRCA delivers excellent projects that are in part funded by the Foundation. The LSRCA is able to leverage $4 for every $1 raised by the Foundation to deliver its programs. Through commitment and dedication over the past 5 years the LSCF has been able to raise its annual fundraising from $150 to nearly $1.0M.
Bob Forhan, President & CEO of iPLANcorp has been a Director of the Foundation since 1998 and is a member of the Foundations President's Circle for iPLAN's multi-year giving pledge to the Foundation.
“A sustainable community requires a sustainable natural environment. In my opinion, improvements that can be made to water quality for drinking, swimming and a healthy aquatic ecosystem is a wise investment in future generations.”
