Resurgence Theatre Company is a not-for-profit professional theatre company uniquely positioned in the Canadian arts landscape. The company has been in operations for 12 years and has branded the York Shakespeare Festival- a six week outdoor festival under a tent where audiences admire the World’s brightest theatrical talent from directors, actors and crew that have been classically trained and performed on some world’s greatest stages across North America and Europe. Resurgence produces two plays for the Festival including one play from Shakespeare and one play from a contemporary piece of literature. Unique in Canada is Resurgence Theatre’s Junior and Senior Conservatory programs. Successful candidates for the Senior Conservatory may earn up to 2 credits toward their high school diploma. The Conservatory alumni are committed volunteers and produce their own production annually for Resurgence Theatre. In addition, Resurgence Theatre provides workshops and other educational forums for developing new artists.
“Our vision is to make Resurgence Theatre Company a centre of excellence for live professional theatre in Canada.”
RTC’s mandate is to enrich life through live professional theatre by:
- Presenting illuminating productions of Shakespeare and innovative contemporary theatre works
